Santi Aldama : Doubtful to return Thursday
Aldama (ankle) is doubtful to return during Thursday's game against the Raptors. Aldama was helped back to the locker room during the first quarter of Thursday's contest, and he was unable to put much weight on his left ankle. The 23-year-old will likely undergo further testing, though he'll end with four points (2-3 FG) and three rebounds across three minutes if he's deemed unable to return. If Aldama is sidelned, Jake LaRavia and Luke Kennard will likely see an uptick in playing time the rest of the way.
Santi Aldama : Heads to locker room Thursday
Aldama was helped back to the locker room during the first quarter of Thursday's game against against the Raptors with an apparent left ankle injury, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Aldama was unable to put much weight on his left ankle after going down in the opening quarter, during which he contributed four points (2-3 FG) and three rebounds across three minutes. If the 23-year-old is unable to come back, Jake LaRavia and Luke Kennard will likely see increased roles the rest of the way.
Jay Huff : Remains out
Huff (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Raptors. Huff hasn't played since suffering an ankle injury during a Dec. 15 loss to the Lakers. His next chance to suit up will come Friday in New Orleans.
Marcus Smart : Won’t play Thursday
Smart (finger) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Raptors. Smart will miss a second straight game due to a left index finger injury he suffered during Saturday's game against the Hawks. In his absence, Scotty Pippen, Luke Kennard and Jaylen Wells are candidates for a couple of extra minutes against Toronto.
Zach Edey : Pulls down 14 rebounds
Edey provided three points (1-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), 14 rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal in 27 minutes during Monday's 114-110 loss to the Clippers. Edey couldn't generate much on offense, but made up for it by pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds. The rookie center has so far turned 21.3 minutes per game into 12th-round fantasy value in nine-category formats with averages of 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.1 blocks.
Jaylen Wells : Doesn’t do much in 28 minutes
Wells finished Monday's 114-110 loss to the Clippers with seven points (2-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 28 minutes. With Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson combining to score 68 points, Wells understandably took a backseat on offense. With a low usage rate and a mild workload, he's mostly been a deep-league contributor in fantasy with averages of 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 10 December outings.
Desmond Bane : Chips in 21 points vs. Clips
Bane provided 21 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 32 minutes during Monday's 114-110 loss to the Clippers. Bane was initially listed as questionable for Monday's game due to an illness, but he was cleared to play despite missing Memphis' morning shootaround. He finished as the Grizzlies' third-leading scorer behind Jaren Jackson (24) and Ja Morant (23), and Bane was one rebound shy from registering his third double-double of the regular season. Bane has made a more concerted effort to get his teammates involved as of late and has dished at least seven assists in each of his last five outings. Over that span, Bane has averaged 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 27.9 minutes per game.
Ja Morant : Scores 23 points Monday
Morant ended with 23 points (7-21 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes during Monday's 114-110 loss to the Clippers. Morant returned from a one-game absence Monday due to lower-back soreness and finished as the Grizzlies' second-leading scorer behind Jaren Jackson (24). Over his last 10 outings, Morant has averaged 21.6 points, 7.0 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 27.7 minutes per game.
