Wooten's move to the active roster comes as Shaq Thompson (Achilles) and Josey Jewell (hamstring) are suffering from injuries in Carolina's linebacker corps, with Thompson's being a season-ending one.
Wooten (ankle) has been an active participant at Carolina's training camp, Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire reports. Wooten ended the 2023 season on injured reserve with an ankle injury, but he's now fully recovered and participating at training camp. The 25-year-old will compete with the likes of Trevin Wallace and Claudin Cherelus for an active roster spot at interior linebacker this season.
Wooten was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup in the closing minutes after he recorded a tackle and recovered a fumble on special teams in the first half. Whether he'll be available for Thursday's game against the Bears remains to be seen.
