Just one carry in win

Akers had one carry for three yards in Sunday's win at Seattle. Akers played on just seven of the offense's 66 snaps as Minnesota stuck with Aaron Jones (54 snaps) more than usual with him playing well. Akers should get more touches the final two games to keep Jones fresh.
Scores TD in win

Akers had 10 carries for 24 yards, including a one-yard touchdown, in Monday's win over Chicago. Akers got significant work behind Aaron Jones, playing on 21 of the offense's 77 snaps. Jones had 18 carries and two receptions while playing 47 snaps. Akers should continue to get about a third of the snaps to keep Jones fresh.
Has 37 yards rushing in win

Akers had five carries for 37 yards in Sunday's win over Atlanta. Akers played on 19 of the offense's 60 snaps. Aaron Jones had 15 touches and played on 38 snaps. Jones shook off his recent fumble issues and got the bulk of the workload, but Akers remains a factor to give him rest.
Gets just four touches in win

Akers had four carries for 22 yards in Sunday's win over Arizona. Akers played on 16 of the offense's 53 snaps while Ty Chandler played on five snaps. Starting running back Aaron Jones played on 28 snaps but fumbled on twice on eight touches. Akers could split more of the workload if Jones' fumbles are viewed as due to fatigue.
Falls back to four touches Sunday

Akers totaled three carries for 19 yards and one catch (on one target) for six yards during Sunday's 30-27 win at Chicago. Akers has been a part of the Vikings offense in four consecutive contests, but his touch count Sunday was the fewest during that stretch after earning 14 in Week 10 at Jacksonville and 12 last Sunday in Tennessee. The elevated usage for Akers in the previous two games may have been spurred by the rib injury that Aaron Jones suffered in the first of those outings, but the latter racked up 25 touches for 129 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD in Week 12, indicating he's more or less back to his status as Minnesota's unquestioned top RB. As a result, Akers could be relegated to a distant No. 2 option behind Jones moving forward.
Another 12 touches in Week 11

Akers tallied 10 carries for 25 yards and two catches (on two targets) for 11 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 23-13 victory in Tennessee. Akers now has back-to-back games with double-digit touches, but his yardage tallies in those outings have left fantasy managers wanting (14 for 47 yards from scrimmage Week 10 at Jacksonville, 12 for 36 total yards Week 11). On a positive note, he scored his first TD since Week 5, when he was a member of the Texans, from three yards out late in the third quarter. The Vikings' lead runner Aaron Jones didn't fare much better (16 touches for 43 total yards), which may stem from the rib issue that he sustained against the Jaguars last weekend. In any case, Akers appears as if he's carved out a regular role in Minnesota's offense, at least in the short term.
Gets 13 carries in win

Akers has 13 carries for 38 yards and one reception for nine yards in Sunday's win at Jacksonville. Akers played on 26 of the offense's 84 snaps as he got extra playing time late in the game when Aaron Jones missed time with sore ribs. It sounds like Jones won't miss time with the injury, but he could be limited or the Vikings may want to play it safe with his usage this week at Tennessee. Akers could be set for more work as a result.
Moves into backup RB role

Akers had six carries for 46 yards and two receptions for seven yards in Sunday's win over the Colts. Akers played on 16 of the offense's 73 snaps as he essentially got two series in place of starter Aaron Jones, the latter of whom had 21 carries for 64 yards and four receptions for 18 yards. Ty Chandler didn't play any snaps on offense as it looks like Akers has overtaken him to be the primary backup running back. It appears Akers will be the running back who gets some work each game to try to keep Jones fresh.
Working as No. 3 back

Akers is active for Sunday's game against the Lions after being acquired from the Texans on Tuesday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Meanwhile, Myles Gaskin is a healthy inactive for Sunday's game. Akers will work as the No. 3 running back, but he may not see much playing time with lead back Aaron Jones (hamstring) set to play. Ty Chandler will work as Jones' backup.
