Pierce (concussion) practiced fully Thursday. Pierce, who was inactive for Week 16 action, was estimated as a full participant Wednesday, so his continued full listing a day later bodes well for his chances of returning to the lineup Sunday against the Giants. Friday's injury report will confirm whether Pierce carries a Week 17 designation or is cleared to face New York, by way of having cleared the NFL's concussion protocol.

Alec Pierce Latest News
Practices fully Thursday

Pierce (concussion) practiced fully Thursday. Pierce, who was inactive for Week 16 action, was estimated as a full participant Wednesday, so his continued full listing a day later bodes well for his chances of returning to the lineup Sunday against the Giants. Friday's injury report will confirm whether Pierce carries a Week 17 designation or is cleared to face New York, by way of having cleared the NFL's concussion protocol.
Estimated as full practice participant

Pierce (concussion) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice estimate. Pierce was inactive this past Sunday against the Titans, but his full listing on Wednesday's practice estimate is a sign that he's progressing toward a possible return to action this weekend against the Giants. The wideout will now have two more days to maintain that level of activity, as well as gain clearance to suit up versus New York.
Won't play Sunday

Head coach Shane Steichen noted Friday that Pierce (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Titans, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports. Pierce, who sustained a concussion during Week 15 action, didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but participated in Friday's session, wearing a non-contact jersey, per Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star. However, with the wideout having been ruled out and targeting a potential return to action Sunday, Dec. 29 at the Giants, Adonai Mitchell figures to see added opportunities this weekend alongside fellow WRs Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.
Working off to side

Pierce (concussion) handled cone drills off to the side at Thursday's practice, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Pierce is officially being listed as a non-participant at practice for the second day in a row, but it appears he's making some amount of progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. The No. 3 wideout will need to gain full clearance, though, in order to be eligible to suit up for Sunday's game against the Titans. Adonai Mitchell will be in position to handle added opportunities behind Michael Pittman and Josh Downs if Pierce can't go.
Not practicing Wednesday

Pierce (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports. Pierce, who sustained a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Broncos, will have two more chances to practice this week before the Colts face off against the Titans. If Pierce is unable to play this weekend, Adonai Mitchell would be in line to see added opportunities alongside fellow wide receivers Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.
Concussion confirmed

Pierce has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game at Denver due to a concussion, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Pierce was targeted on a deep ball by QB Anthony Richardson late in the first half, hitting the ground hard while attempting to haul in the pass and going directly to the locker room afterward. With a concussion confirmed for Pierce, he'll finish Week 16 with no catches on his four targets. Ashton Dulin (ankle) is inactive Sunday, so Adonai Mitchell and Anthony Gould are the tertiary WR options in the Colts offense behind Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.
Hauls in late TD

Pierce caught two of six targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-24 win over the Patriots. The third-year wideout dealt with a foot injury in practice this week, and while he was eventually cleared to play, Pierce appeared headed for a very quiet day until he caught a three-yard TD from Anthony Richardson with just 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter for what seemed to be the tying score. Rather than sending the game to overtime with an extra point though, coach Shane Steichen put the ball in Richardson's hands, and the young QB ran in a two-point conversion for the win. The touchdown was Pierce's fifth of the season after he managed only four across his first two NFL campaigns, and he'll get a bye in Week 14 to let his foot heal further.
Active versus New England

Pierce (foot) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Following back-to-back 'DNP' listings, Pierce was deemed a full participant in his return to practice Friday before approaching Sunday's contest listed as questionable. With his availability versus New England confirmed, barring any setbacks, Pierce should play a key role in the Colts' passing offense alongside Michael Pittman and Adonai Mitchell, with fellow wideouts Josh Downs (shoulder) and Ashton Dulin (ankle) both inactive. Though he's been a hit-or-miss fantasy option of late, the absence of Downs could provide Pierce (who overall has compiled a 27/629/4 receiving line on 48 targets through 12 games) with added Week 13 opportunities.
Expected to suit up Sunday

Pierce (foot), who is questionable for Sunday's game against New England, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Pierce didn't practice at all Wednesday or Thursday but was able to log a full session Friday. That was a good omen heading into the weekend, and the third-year wideout looks like he'll be ready to play Sunday. Though Pierce has a modest eight catches over his past three games, half of those have gone for at least 20 yards, emphasizing the deep-ball threat he poses for opposing defenses.
