Lands on reserve/NFI list

The Colts placed Smith (personal) on the reserve/NFI list Saturday. Smith has been dealing with a personal matter and hasn't suited up since Week 12. By going on the NFI list, he'll be required to sit out the remainder of the regular season. Matt Goncalves is likely to start at right tackle for Indianapolis the rest of the way.
Officially ruled out for Week 15

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Friday that Smith (personal) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Smith will miss a second consecutive contest due to a personal matter. In his stead, Matt Goncalves looks set to start at right tackle once again. That could impede Indianapolis' ability to keep Anthony Richardson upright versus an imposing Broncos defensive front.
Won't play versus Denver

Smith (personal) isn't expected to play in Sunday's game versus the Broncos, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Starreports. Smith is expected to miss his second straight game as he is still tending to a personal matter. In the 2018 second-round pick's absence, Matt Goncalves will get the start at right tackle once again.
Won't play Week 13

Smith (personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports. Smith will miss his first game of the regular season due to a personal matter, and his next chance to play will be Week 15 against the Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 15. Matt Goncalves is the top candidate to start at right tackle Sunday due to Smith's absence.
Suiting up Sunday

Smith (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Smith didn't practice Wednesday or Friday, but logged a full session Thursday. The veteran tackle has yet to miss a snap this season.
Good to go for training camp

Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports that Smith (knee) should be ready for the Colts' first practice of training camp Thursday. Smith underwent surgery in the offseason to fix a knee issue that hampered him throughout the 2023 season. He sat out of the team's offseason workouts, but the 2018 second-round tackle out of Auburn appears to be healthy and ready for the start of training camp.
Recovering from knee surgery

Smith underwent knee surgery following the 2023 season, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Smith has played a full 16- or 17-game schedule in just one of his six pro seasons and is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw him miss seven contests to knee issues. The Colts' starting right tackle has two years left on his four-year, $70 million deal and is set to collect over $11.6 million in salary next season.
