Hendershot (calf) was activated from injured reserve Monday and does not have an injury designation for Wednesday's Week 17 matchup versus Pittsburgh. Hendershot had been on IR since late November due to a calf injury. He was designated to return Monday and estimated as a full practice participant both Monday and Tuesday. With no injury designation for Wednesday's game, Hendershot appears set to return to action against the Steelers. He'll presumably work as the Chiefs' third tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray while also contributing on special teams.

Comes off IR

Hendershot (calf) was activated from injured reserve Monday and does not have an injury designation for Wednesday's Week 17 matchup versus Pittsburgh. Hendershot had been on IR since late November due to a calf injury. He was designated to return Monday and estimated as a full practice participant both Monday and Tuesday. With no injury designation for Wednesday's game, Hendershot appears set to return to action against the Steelers. He'll presumably work as the Chiefs' third tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray while also contributing on special teams.
Designated to return from IR

The Chiefs have designated Hendershot (calf) to return to practice from injured reserve Monday. Hendershot was placed on IR in late November after going down with a calf injury versus the Panthers in Week 12. The third-year tight end has now served his minimum four-game absence, which means he could return as early as Wednesday against the Steelers. His practice involvement Tuesday should give the best indication on what his true return timetable will look like.
Going to IR

Kansas City placed Hendershot (calf) on its injured reserve list Tuesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Hendershot suffered a calf injury during Sunday's game at Carolina, and now he'll be forced to miss at least the Chiefs' next four outings as he recovers. Travis Kelce and Noah Gray are currently the only healthy tight ends on Kansas City's 53-man roster, but it did add rookie undrafted free agent Baylor Cupp to its practice squad Tuesday.
Exits game with calf injury

Hendershot (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Panthers. Hendershot suffered the injury in the second half of Sunday's game. Travis Kelce and Noah Gray would be the Chiefs' only two tight ends for the rest of the contest if Hendershot is unable to return.
Back on Chiefs' active roster

The Chiefs signed Hendershot from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Hendershot began the regular season on the Chiefs' active roster but was waived Sept. 16. He oped to stay in Kansas City on the practice squad, but he's back on the 53-man roster after rookie tight end Jared Wiley suffered a torn ACL during Friday's practice. Hendershot will serve as the Chiefs' No. 3 tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.
Rejoins KC on practice squad

Hendershot signed with the Chiefs' practice squad Tuesday after clearing waivers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Hendershot was waived from the Chiefs' active roster on Monday after playing seven snaps on special teams in Sunday's 26-25 win over the Bengals. He'll stick around in Kansas City and provide the Chiefs a safety net at tight end should Travis Kelce, Noah Gray or Jared Wiley miss time.
Dropped by K.C.

The Chiefs waived Hendershot on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Hendershot was traded from Dallas to Kansas City in late August made his Chiefs debut in Week 2, playing seven special-teams snaps and failing to record a single stat. With Hendershot being waived Monday, the Chiefs' tight-end room now consists of Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Jared Wiley.
Not playing Thursday

Hendershot (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Ravens. Hendershot was acquired by the Chiefs in a trade with the Cowboys on Aug. 27. He's the fourth tight end on Kansas City's depth chart behind Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Jared Wiley. Hendershot's next chance at making his Chiefs debut will come against the Bengals on Sept. 15.
Traded to KC

The Cowboys are trading Hendershot to the Chiefs for a conditional seventh-round pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. It was previously reported that Dallas was waiving the tight end, but the Chiefs apparently were interested and made a small offer to ensure he wouldn't land with a team that had higher waiver priority. Hendershot now slots in at the bottom of Kansas City's depth chart, potentially competing with rookie Jared Wiley for the No. 3 TE role.
