Pettis secured two of seven targets for 31 yards and returned two kickoffs for 70 yards in the Saints' 34-0 loss to the Packers on Monday night. Pettis finished second in receiving yards and targets on the night for the Saints while also tying Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson for the team lead in catches. The veteran wideout continued to enjoy an expanded role in the offense due to New Orleans' multitude of injuries at wideout, and his receiving yardage total was a new season high. However, despite the elevated level of opportunity Monday, Pettis could bump down all the way to a No. 4 or No. 5 role for a Week 17 home matchup against the Raiders if Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest/illness) and/or Chris Olave (concussion, IR) are able to return for that contest.

Dante Pettis Latest News
Nets 101 all-purpose yards in loss

Catches two passes Week 15

Pettis tallied two receptions (on five targets) for 24 yards during Sunday's 20-19 defeat against Washington. Pettis logged more than two targets for the first time this season. He also tied with running back Alvin Kamara (groin) for the team's second-most targets behind deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling (seven), though this ultimately didn't mean much in terms of fantasy value, as the Saints' passing game was largely ineffective without starting quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/hand). With no clear No. 1 receiver, it's likely that the Saints will continue spreading the ball around to multiple pass catchers. However, if Kamara ends up missing time after being forced out with a groin injury in the fourth quarter, then it's possible that the Saints will rely more on its wideouts and tight ends. The team will have one extra day to rest before facing the Packers on Monday, Dec. 23.
Held without catch in Week 14

Pettis took the field for 21 of the Saints' 68 snaps on offense and was unable to reel in either of his two targets in Sunday's 14-11 win over the Giants. Pettis was held without a catch for the first time in four appearances with the Saints and finished fourth in snaps among New Orleans receivers, trailing Marquez Valdes-Scantling (48), Kevin Austin (44) and Cedrick Wilson (25). The 29-year-old is unlikely to see his role grow dramatically over the final four games of the season, though he'll at least have some security after the Saints gave him a permanent spot on the roster by signing him off the practice squad last week.
Signed to active roster by NOLA

The Saints signed Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports. Pettis had been elevated from the Saints' practice squad for the last three games, and now he's set to be on the active roster for the rest of the 2024 regular season. Across his three outings, Pettis logged three catches (on four targets) for 22 yards while adding 26 kick return yards and 54 punt return yards.
Moves back to practice squad

Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Pettis has received some run in New Orleans' offense the last three games due to the banged-up nature of the receiving corps, recording exactly one catch on each occasion. Overall, his 3-22-0 line on four targets during that span isn't much to write home about, and his snap share (20 percent) Sunday against the Rams was behind all of Marquez Valdes-Scantling (76), Kevin Austin (61) and Cedrick Wilson (33). Because the Saints have used the maximum allotment of three elevations on Pettis, he'll need to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up this coming Sunday at the Giants.
Elevated by Saints for Week 13

New Orleans elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Pettis will be elevated for a third straight game. In his last two outings, Pettis has caught two passes on as many targets for 17 yards while adding 26 kick return yards and 54 punt return yards. He'll serve as the Saints' primary returner Sunday against the Rams and will provide depth at wide receiver behind Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Cedrick Wilson and fellow practice squad wideout Kevin Austin.
Reverts to practice squad

Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Pettis was elevated to the Saints' active roster for the second consecutive week ahead of Sunday's win over the Browns, catching his lone target for nine yards across seven offensive snaps. The Washington product also played five special-teams snaps and returned two punts for 54 yards, including a 53-yard return that was initially ruled an 88-yard touchdown before being called back for stepping out of bounds. He's expected to rejoin the Saints' active roster following the team's Week 12 bye.
Elevated by Saints for Week 11

The Saints elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Pettis will be elevated to the Saints' active roster for a second straight week. He played 11 snaps (seven on offense, four on special teams) in Week 10 against the Falcons, finishing with one catch for eight yards while adding 26 kickoff return yards. Pettis will likely reprise his role as the Saints' primary kickoff returner against the Browns on Sunday.
Back to practice squad

Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. The wide receiver was elevated for Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons with Chris Olave (concussion) on injured reserve and Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) out. Pettis played on seven offensive snaps and caught his only target for eight yards. He also played four snaps on special teams and returned a kick for 26 yards.
