Tony Adams Latest News
Limited in Thursday's practice

Adams (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Adams injured his ankle during the Jets' Week 16 loss to the Rams. His practice participation Friday will indicate his status heading into Sunday's AFC East clash against the Bills.
Exits game due to ankle injury

Adams (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Rams. Adams picked off Matthew Stafford in the second quarter of Sunday's game, but he's iffy to return due to an ankle injury. Isaiah Oliver is the top candidate to take over at free safety while Adams is sidelined.
Steps back in Sunday

Adams (nose) has returned to Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Adams exited with a nose injury during the first half, but he's able to get back on the field for the second half. Coming into Sunday's contest, he totaled 63 tackles and one sack across 11 appearances this season.
Exits versus Jacksonville

Adams is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to a nose injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Adams logged two tackles in the first half but is now questionable to return coming out of halftime. Starting free safety Jalen Mills was also forced out and will not return due to a chest injury. With the Jets very thin at safety, expect Ashtyn Davis and Isaiah Oliver to step into bigger roles alongside starter Chuck Clark.
Logs 10 tackles vs. Cardinals

Adams recorded 10 total tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 31-6 loss to the Cardinals. The 25-year-old tied Quincy Williams as the Jets' second-leading tackler in Sunday's loss, trailing Jamien Sherwood's 17-stop performance. Adams now ranks in the top three on the Jets' defense in both total tackles (58) and passes defended (5) through their first 10 games this season. Expect the Illinois product to continue starting alongside Ashtyn Davis as part of the Jets' top safety duo in Week 11's matchup against the Colts.
Should be set for Sunday

Adams (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday. Adams has been sidelined since Week 7 when he suffered the injury. His return to the practice field should set the stage for him to suit up in Week 10 against the Cardinals after a two-game absence.
Ruled out vs. Texans

Adams (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Houston. Adams has been unable to practice since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7 against the Steelers, and the injury is serious enough that he'll miss a second straight game. Adams' next chance at suiting up will be Week 10 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 10. With Adams and Ashtyn Davis (concussion) both sidelined for Thursday's game, Jalen Mills and Isaiah Oliver will serve as the Jets' starting safeties.
Downgraded to out

The Jets announced Saturday that Adams (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Adams' next chance to retake the field will come Week 9 versus Houston on Thursday Night Football. As a result of strong safety Ashtyn Davis (concussion) already being ruled out, Jalen Mills and Isaiah Oliver will be New York's likeliest candidates to start at safety against New England on Sunday.
Unlikely to play vs. New England

Adams (hamstring) did not practice Friday and is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Adams injured his hamstring during the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Steelers, which was severe enough for him to miss all three practices this week. Unless he's able to make a quick recovery over the weekend, he'll likely be sidelined Sunday for the first time this season. With strong safety Ashtyn Davis (concussion) already ruled out, the Jets will likely have to start Jalen Mills and Isaiah Oliver at the safety positions during Sunday's AFC East clash.
