Joining Bills

Buffalo signed Phillips to a one-year contract Wednesday. Phillips was released by Dallas on Tuesday, but it didn't take long for him to get another chance with a different team. This will be his third stint with the Bills, for whom he recorded 15 tackles (10 solo) including 2.5 sacks last season.
Let go by Dallas

The Cowboys released Phillips on Tuesday. Phillips was placed on the Cowboys' injured reserve Sept. 18 due to a wrist injury. He logged full practices in each of the last two weeks, but rather than be reinstated from IR, the 2015 second-round pick will instead be looking to join a team in need of veteran depth at defensive tackle.
Not returning for Week 9

Phillips (wrist) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup versus Atlanta, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Phillips is making his way back from a wrist injury that landed him on IR on Sept. 18. The defensive tackle was designated to return Oct. 23 and has logged six straight full practices since, but the Cowboys aren't yet ready to activate him. The team has until Nov. 13 to do so before his 21-day practice window expires.
Won't be activated ahead of Week 8

Phillips (wrist) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Phillips' 21-day window to return from injured reserve opened Wednesday. He was a full practice participant all week, but the Cowboys will err on the side of caution and hold the 2015 second-round pick out for at least one more week. Barring any setbacks, Phillips should be on track to make his return for the Cowboys' Week 9 contest against the Falcons on Sunday, Nov. 3. In the meantime, Linval Joseph and Carlos Watkins will continue to serve as Dallas' backup interior defensive lineman behind starters Mazi Smith and Osa Odighizuwa.
Designated to return from IR

The Cowboys designated Phillips (wrist) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Phillips was placed on injured reserve Sept. 18 while in the final stages of his recovery from wrist surgery from last season. He was a full participant during Wednesday's practice session, and if he's able to practice without restriction over the next two days, he should be activated off IR ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Placed on injured reserve

The Cowboys placed Phillips (wrist) on injured reserve Wednesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Phillips underwent wrist surgery last season while playing for the Bills, but it remains to be seen whether his current injury is related. He'll now be forced to miss at least Dallas' next four games, making Oct. 27 versus the 49ers the earliest possible return date. To help replace Jenkins, the Cowboys inked Carlos Watkins from the Commanders' practice squad.
Traded to Dallas

The Cowboys acquired Phillips from the Giants Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. Additionally, Dallas is sending the Giants a sixth-round pick in exchange for Phillips and a seventh-rounder in 2025. The Giants signed Phillips earlier in the offseason after he spent the previous two seasons in Buffalo. Things obviously weren't working in New York, and the G-Men decided to move on ahead of Week 1. Phillips turns 32 next month and has 120 games of experience, including 62 starts. He'll provide interior depth alongside Mazi Smith and Osa Odighizuwa for the Cowboys and new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
Picked up by the Giants

The Giants signed Phillips (wrist) on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Phillips spent the last two years of his career with the Bills, and he'll stay in New York after agreeing to terms with the Giants on Thursday. The veteran defensive lineman has appeared in 26 games over the past two seasons, recording 35 total tackles, including 4.0 sacks, while also deflecting seven passes. Phillips missed the Bills' final five games last year after sustaining a wrist injury, but once he's able to return to the field, he is expected to serve as one of the Giants' top rotational defensive lineman.
Ready to go Sunday

Phillips was able to log a full practice Friday and he's now set to let it rip Sunday versus New York. The defensive tackle has recorded four tackles, including a half-sack, over the last two games.
