Shepard (hamstring/foot) didn't take part in practice Thursday. Shepard has yet to mix into drills this week due to the hamstring injury that forced him out of this past Sunday's loss at Dallas and also the foot issue he tended to last week. Friday's practice report may shed some light on his odds to suit up Sunday versus the Panthers, but Ryan Miller likely would bump up the WR pecking order behind Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan if Shepard is limited or sidelined this weekend.
Otton (knee) didn't practice Thursday. Otton also kicked off last week with back-to-back DNPs before getting back on the field as limited Friday while donning a large brace on his left knee. He was listed as doubtful and then ruled out ahead of this past Sunday's game at Dallas, but it remains to be seen how the Buccaneers tag him ahead of a Week 17 matchup with the Panthers. If Otton is inactive again Sunday, Payne Durham would pick up the slack at tight end for Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers placed Izien (pectoral) on injured reserve Thursday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Izien suffered a pectoral injury during the Buccaneers' Week 16 loss to the Cowboys, and it appears severe enough for him to warrant a multi-week absence. He is required to miss at least the next four games, which means he won't be eligible to return from IR until the NFC Conference Championship, assuming Tampa Bay makes it that far. With his 2024 regular-season over, Izien will finish with 75 tackles (48 solo), three pass defenses (including one interception) and one forced fumble across 14 regular-season games. Izien's loss is a blow to the Bucs' secondary, but the good news for Tampa Bay is that Jordan Whitehead (pectoral) was designated to return from IR on Tuesday and could be activated ahead of Sunday's NFC South clash against the Panthers.
Whitehead (pectoral) was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report. Whitehead ruptured his pectoral muscle during the Buccaneers' Week 12 win over the Giants, which prompted Tampa Bay to place the veteran safety on injured reserve in late November. Whitehead's 21-day practice window to return from IR opened Tuesday, and while Wednesday's report was an estimate, it's an encouraging sign that he was listed as a full participant. His practice participation over the next two days will provide clarity on his chances of returning from IR and playing against the Panthers on Sunday.
Izien (pectoral) was estimated as a non-participant in practice Wednesday. Izien posted a season-high 13 tackles Sunday against Dallas, but it appears he also suffered a pec injury. His likelihood of missing the Week 17 contest against Carolina on Sunday should become clearer as the practice week progresses. Tampa Bay could be very thin at the safety position with Antoine Winfield (knee), Mike Edwards (hamstring), Kaevon Merriweather (knee) and Jordan Whitehead (pectoral-IR) also dealing with injuries.
Britt (ankle) was estimated as a full participant in practice Wednesday. Britt has missed Tampa Bay's past three games after suffering an ankle injury Week 13 against Carolina. Though the Buccaneers didn't hold a regular practice Wednesday, the fact Britt was estimated as a full participant suggests he could return to the field Sunday against the Panthers. J.J. Russell has been starting in Britt's absence.
Winfield (knee) was estimated as a non-participant in practice Wednesday. Winfield hurt his knee Week 14 against Las Vegas and hasn't played since. Though his DNP on Wednesday was an estimation, the star safety is very questionable to suit up Sunday versus Carolina. Kaevon Merriweather has been staring in Winfield's stead, though Merriweather is also currently dealing with a knee injury.
