Lively is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Suns due to a left hip contusion. Lively is in danger of missing his first game since Dec. 1 on Friday due to a hip injury. If the 20-year-old big man is unable to suit up against Phoenix, Daniel Gafford, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell are candidates to receive increased playing time.

Mavericks Injury Report
Latest Mavericks News
Dereck Lively : Iffy against Phoenix
Lively is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Suns due to a left hip contusion. Lively is in danger of missing his first game since Dec. 1 on Friday due to a hip injury. If the 20-year-old big man is unable to suit up against Phoenix, Daniel Gafford, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell are candidates to receive increased playing time.
Brandon Williams : Good to go Friday
Williams (thumb) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game versus the Suns. Williams will return to action Friday after missing Dallas' last six contests due to a thumb injury. However, Williams is averaging just 1.2 points in 4.2 minutes across his five appearances this season, so he is unlikely to significantly impact the Mavericks' rotation.
Kyrie Irving : Puts on show despite loss
Irving racked up 39 points (14-27 FG, 5-14 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 105-99 loss to the Timberwolves. Irving put the Mavericks on his back, helping the team rally from a 28-point deficit, ultimately falling just short of the mark. Luka Doncic played just 16 minutes before a calf injury forced him to the sideline. Initial reports indicate the medical staff are preparing for an extended absence for Doncic, meaning Irving is going to be tasked with doing a lot of the heavy lifting moving forward.
P.J. Washington : Underwhelming performance in loss
Washington logged seven points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 40 minutes during Wednesday's 105-99 loss to the Timberwolves. Washington had one of his worst games of the season, scoring fewer than 10 points for the first time in the past 11 games. Although his offensive and defensive production can fluctuate from game to game, his value to this team cannot be overstated. When all is said and done, he provides the Mavericks with a viable threat on both ends of the floor, currently averaging 12.4 points and 7.9 rebounds to go with 2.4 combined steals and blocks.
Quentin Grimes : Logs 24 minutes in loss
Grimes registered 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists and one block in 24 minutes during Wednesday's 105-99 loss to Minnesota. Grimes saw an increase in playing time as a result of what could be a potentially serious calf injury to Luka Doncic. Grimes started the second half and could find himself playing a larger role should Doncic be sidelined moving forward. We have already seen Grimes step up this season when the roster is depleted. There is no reason to think he won't be able to increase his production should the opportunity present itself.
Luka Doncic : May miss extended time
The Mavericks are bracing for Doncic to miss an extended period after being diagnosed with a left calf strain Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Doncic posted 14 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 16 minutes before leaving Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves after aggravating a lingering calf injury. The MVP candidate has dealt with multiple lower-body injuries dating back to the Mavericks' surprise run to the NBA Finals last season. While Doncic has been able to play through minor injuries in his career, Dallas will presumably be extremely cautious with him moving forward. In Doncic's absence, Quentin Grimes, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jaden Hardy are candidates for increased roles.
Luka Doncic : Officially ruled out
Doncic will not return to Wednesday's Christmas Day contest due to a left calf strain, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports. Doncic will presumably have follow-up tests to determine the severity of the injury. Doncic has dealt with five separate incidents of lower body injuries since training camp, which adds up to be taxing from a muscular compensation standpoint on his kinetic chain. He was ruled out mere minutes after suffering the aggravation, which will thrust Spencer Dinwiddie into a higher-usage role for Dallas.
Luka Doncic : Limps to locker room
Doncic (heel/calf) exited Wednesday's contest versus Minnesota due to an apparent heel injury in the final minutes of the second quarter. His status to return is unclear. Doncic entered Wednesday's contest dealing with a left heel contusion, and he had a non-contact aggravation of the same region while attempting to drive on Jaden McDaniels. While Doncic had no abnormal extension or force applied, the simple nature in which his injury occurred is similarly concerning.
