Smith (foot) was a full participant in practice Thursday. Smith was estimated as a non-participant Wednesday, so his upgrade to full participation one day later bodes well for his likelihood of suiting up Sunday versus Green Bay. The veteran safety missed last Sunday's win over the Seahawks, which was his first regular-season absence since the 2022 campaign. Smith ranks fourth on the Vikings with 79 tackles this season.

Pace has missed the Vikings' last four games while on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury he suffered against Chicago in Week 12. He was designated to return from IR on Tuesday, and while Wednesday's session was a walkthrough rather than a practice, Pace's full participation indicates that he is progressing well through his recovery. If he's able to fully participate in practice over the next two days, Pace could be activated off IR ahead of Sunday's NFC North clash against the Packers.

Smith will have two more opportunities to practice this week and avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's contest.
The Vikings designated Pace (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Tuesday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports. Pace missed the Vikings' last four games due to a hamstring injury he picked up in Week 12 against the Bears. With his 21-day practice window opened Tuesday, Pace will be able to return to practice this week, and depending on his participation in those sessions, he could be activated off IR ahead of Minnesota's Week 17 clash against Green Bay on Sunday. Prior to his injury, Pace accumulated 59 tackles (31 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and returned a fumble for a touchdown over nine regular-season games.
Van Ginkel totaled five tackles (two solo), including 2.0 sacks, in Sunday's 27-24 Week 16 win against the Seahawks. Van Ginkel took over the game from a defensive standpoint in the fourth quarter, during which he notched four of his five stops. Among those were a third-down sack of Geno Smith that forced a punt and a first-down sack of Smith on a Seattle drive that ended with a missed field goal three snaps later. The sacks were Van Ginkel's first since Week 12 against Chicago. He's up to a career-high 11.0 sacks in his first season with Minnesota.
Turner had three total tackles and an interception in Sunday's win at Seattle. It was a surprising interception for an edge rusher as he caught the ball while in full pass coverage. Turner has otherwise underwhelmed in his rookie season, as the first-round pick has had a reserve role (playing 16 of 64 snaps in the win) and has just two sacks and 26 total QB pressures in 14 games, according to Pro Football Focus.
Metellus recorded seven tackles and two QB hits in Sunday's 27-24 victory against Seattle. Metellus finished third on Minnesota in tackles in the contest, and he has now registered at least seven stops in five straight games. Prior to that surge, the veteran safety had posted seven tackles just three times across his first 10 contests of the campaign. Metellus needs five more tackles over the Vikings' final two regular-season games to reach the triple-digit mark for the second straight year.
